Let us introduce ourselves
Dr. Chen is a certified specialist in pediatric dentistry who’s been practicing in Nanaimo since 2015. An energetic kid-at-heart, he takes pride in his work and is thrilled to have found a profession in which he looks forward to coming to work every day. To him, the best part of working with kids is seeing their endless potential and helping guide their growth. “I love their creativity, honesty, and genuine spirits”.
Dr. Chen grew up in Vancouver, BC. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from UBC and received his dental education at the UBC Faculty of Dentistry. Following graduation from UBC in 2011, he decided to explore and pursue further training in the east coast.

Education & experience
He completed a general practice residency at Montefiore Medical Centre in New York, and a pediatric dentistry residency at Rutgers University in New Jersey where he was the chief resident.
During this time, he received extensive clinical, emergency, and hospital training. His education also included growth and development of children, and treatment of medically and physically compromised patients.
Dr. Chen’s goal is to create a positive dental experience so children can grow into healthy adults without feelings of fear or anxiety when visiting the dentist.

Volunteering in the community
Dr. Chen loves giving back to the community outside of work. He volunteers at the Vancouver Island University Dental Hygiene Program as a clinical instructor and supervises the children’s dental clinic days. He has also participated in numerous dental missions trips to Brazil and Paraguay.
In his spare time, Dr. Chen enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with his wife, Katherine, and their son, Aaron.
